Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Meals & Menu

Before you start, we customize the menu based on your **delivery method (vaginal / C-section) and recovery stage**.
If you have preferences or restrictions, let us know. We will adjust as long as it remains within a balanced lactation diet.
No. We have a 14-day non-repeating main menu**, rotating with the SWS28 herbal system (metabolism → repair → lactation → recovery). You get variety and proper phasic nutrition.
- Vaginal delivery : Start regular meals on the day of delivery
- C-section : First 3–7 days are alcohol‑free, non‑bloating, non‑tonifying (light fish soup). Herbal tonics start after wound stability
Very suitable. From week 3 we add lactation‑boosting ingredients (pig trotters, Fish soup etc).
We avoid ginseng, leek, malt

We follow a gentle tonic approach, not "heavy tonic".
- Oil: small amount of high-quality oil (black sesame oil etc)
- Salt: normal amount (no-salt diets may worsen edema)

You can request a "light version" when ordering.

Yes, we do offer that. However, to ensure balanced nutrition during your confinement period, we recommend ordering both lunch and dinner together for the best results.

The minimum order is 7 days of lunch and dinner. If you have special requests, please feel free to discuss them with our customer service team.
We use absolutely no MSG.
The natural umami comes from the ingredients themselves — such as broth made from fish, chicken bones, pork bones, and vegetables — enhanced with just a small amount of seasoning (like salt and soy sauce) to elevate the flavor and make it easier to digest.
❌ No preservatives added
❌ No bouillon cubes or artificial seasoning powders

Food Quality & Safety

Yes, 100% same‑day freshly cooked.
We start ingredient prep at 6am and cooking at 7am. No overnight meals, no pre‑made or frozen meal kits.
You can book a tour of our open‑view glass kitchen
Within 1 hour is best to avoid nutrient loss and bacterial growth.
We have an open‑view glass kitchen. You can see:
- Chefs wearing hairnets, masks, gloves
- Separate handling of raw and cooked foods

Welcome to book Confinement Omakase tasting
Please don't worry.
Our herbs are tested sulfur‑free, heavy‑metal‑free, bacteria‑free. Ginger is used to expel cold and wind.
Jaundice is caused by the newborn's immature liver, not by herbs or ginger in breast milk.
👉 If you are still concerned, pause for 2–3 days, then we resume.

No.
Peanuts cooked in soup do not affect wound healing (only deep‑fried peanuts are discouraged).
Peanuts actually help increase breast milk supply, beneficial for C‑section moms.
No.
We use deep‑sea fish rich in Omega‑3, which aids recovery. Mushrooms provide fiber for digestion. Neither affects lochia odor.

Herbal Soups & Recovery

We use the SWS28 Formulas (SWS28) Herbal Confinement System.
This system consists of 28 postpartum-specific herbal formulas, which rotate according to the three-stage principle: Release →Replenish →Rejuvanate.
All herbs have been tested for pesticides, heavy metals, and sulfur residues.
- Regular soup : Light herbs for taste (yuzhu, lily bulb, hawthorn). Hydration only.
- SWS28 herbal soup : Stage‑specific therapeutic formula to expel lochia, repair uterus, replenish qi & blood
Many moms worry, but most accept it after trial.
We use mild‑tasting herbs(astragalus, red dates, goji berries, angelica root) and dilute with chicken/pork bone broth.
Yes, as long as you are within the 100‑day golden recovery window.
We adjust the formula for the "tonifying stage" – it will not be too heaty and helps complete your recovery.
-Vaginal delivery : Day 5 after birth
- C-section : Day 10 after birth (to ensure wound stability)

We recommend showing the herbal formula to your doctor or TCM physician.
Mild herbs generally don't conflict, but if you take anticoagulants or diabetes medication, individual assessment is needed. We can adjust the formula.

Delivery & Thermal Bag Return

Our main kitchen is located in Kempas Utama, primarily serving the Johor Bahru area. To guarantee food freshness, our farthest delivery zones are limited to Kulai and Ulu Tiram.

Additionally, we have a central kitchen in Singapore (located at MacPherson) delivering island‑wide, excluding Sentosa and Tuas
We use Grab or Lalamove for professional, zone‑based instant delivery services. This avoids a single driver covering the entire route, eliminating any concern about prolonged delivery times that could compromise food freshness.
Standard delivery is “pick up at the lobby / ground floor”
The driver will call you upon arrival.
We use insulated bags + leak-proof sealed disposable meal boxes. Your meal will still be warm upon delivery (approximately 55–65°C). If you prefer it hotter, you can reheat it for 30 seconds using an electric steamer or microwave.
Recycling is required to support environmental protection and reuse.
• Every two weeks, simply return the items to our designated recycling staff.
• On the final day of your meal plan, we will provide a disposable insulated bag.
Delays of 30–60 minutes are possible.
We send push notifications.

Disposable Packaging

Safe.
We use high-temperature resistant, leak-proof, sealed disposable hygienic packaging sourced from local factories in Johor Bahru. All containers come with food-grade safety certificates, proving they are bacteria-free and safe for hot foods.
Disposable packaging also prevents cross-contamination from sharing utensils with others, which is a great help for postpartum mummies who are in a weakened state.
No.
All food containers meet *food‑grade safety standards*, BPA‑free and phthalate‑free.
Yes. Our meal boxes are designed to withstand temperatures above 100°C and can be heated directly in a microwave or electric steamer (please avoid direct flame). Just remember to open the lid, otherwise pressure buildup may cause splattering.

Pregnancy & Postpartum Guide

A mother-in-law's heartfelt care is precious, but a 42-day confinement period requires:
2–4 different dishes every day
Different herbal recipes for each stage
Freshly cooked meals
This is too tiring for any elder.

What we often see working well is: mother-in-law takes care of the baby, you focus on resting, and Zheng Shan Liang handles the cooking — so no one gets exhausted.
You can also order just our two deliveries a day (lunch & dinner), and let your mother-in-law prepare only breakfast.
Not recommended.
Confinement herbal soups are designed for postpartum lochia expulsion and repair. Blood‑activating herbs may be unsafe during late pregnancy.
However, you can *taste* beforehand to know the flavor, then start after birth.
Yes, and it's recommended.
Our herbal formulas are screened for ingredients safe for infants
Some herbs (astragalus, angelica) may even improve breast milk quality. If still concerned, consult your pediatrician.
• Vaginal delivery : 24 hours (shower only, no tub bath)
• C-section : About 7–10 days, with waterproof wound cover

Dry hair immediately after washing and avoid cold drafts.
We recommend 妈妈汤包 (available for purchase).
Yes, and you need to.*
The traditional "no water" rule came from poor water quality. Modern advice: drink 2000–2500cc warm water daily to aid metabolism, lactation, and prevent constipation.
Our herbal drinks (Codonopsis & red date tea, wellness tea) also hydrate.
• Normal : 4–6 weeks, color changes from bright red → dark red → yellow‑white
• Warning signs : Suddenly bright red again, heavy flow (soaking a pad in 1 hour), foul smell, fever

Mini-Confinement (Miscarriage)

Yes.
Miscarriage (natural or induced) still stresses the uterus and body. Without proper recovery, you may face menstrual disorders, chronic pelvic pain, or even infertility.
Mini‑confinement follows the same logic as full‑term confinement – at least 14–28 days is strongly recommended.
Yes, very similar.
You still need: expel lochia → repair uterus → restore qi & blood.
We strongly recommend adding SWS28 herbal soup, not just drinking regular soup.
It is recommended to rest for at least 7 days.
After a miscarriage, the body is weak and immunity is lowered. Overexertion may lead to long-term aftereffects such as back pain, headaches, and menstrual irregularities.
If you must return to work, you can order meals to be delivered to your workplace to help nourish your body, while ensuring you get adequate rest.
Generally 6 months to allow the uterine lining to fully recover.
A complete mini‑confinement (including herbal soups) significantly reduces the risk of another miscarriage.
